About Me

Hello! I’m Rebecca. I am a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist, specialising in children and young people, with experience working in both schools and the charity sector in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Holding a Diploma in Psychotherapy from the Northern Guild, my clinical expertise is grounded in a deep understanding of trauma and emotional healing, particularly in young people who have experienced relational, developmental, or acute trauma.

In addition to my psychotherapy practice, I have a background in Occupational Therapy, holding a bachelor's degree in the field, which has proven invaluable in my therapeutic work. My experience in the NHS, along with my Psychotherapy work in services for adults recovering from domestic abuse and children who have been victims of crime or sexual abuse, has equipped me with a broad skill set, especially in trauma focused work.

My approach is integrative, drawing on a range of therapeutic models and theories to tailor intervention to the unique needs of each child or young person. I believe in the power of creative methods, including play and metaphor, as transformative tools for exploring emotions and experiences. I provide a variety of creative materials to facilitate this process, helping young clients express themselves in ways that words alone may not allow.

I am passionate about supporting children and young people through the challenges they face today. In addition to trauma, I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, OCD, sleep difficulties, bereavement, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, bullying, and family or relationship problems.

A core element of my work is a strengths-based approach, which focuses on building resilience and identifying the unique gifts and interests that each individual possesses. I strive to help children and young people recognise their own strengths and explore how they have already shown remarkable resilience in overcoming past difficulties. This empowers them to face future challenges with greater confidence and self-awareness.

With a particular interest in the neurobiology of trauma and somatic healing, I incorporate body-focused approaches to help regulate emotions and process difficult experiences, offering holistic support for emotional and psychological well-being.
